We read a play about a repairman and his washing machine. In this play a man who repais washing machine falls in love with one and treats it like a real person. He becomes so infactuated with this machine he dates it as if it was a real person. When he is confronted with real people, he seems to have trouble with how to act and becomes confused on what it is he really wants. Everytime he thinkg he wants to be with the woman he love, Maple, the washing machine convinces him that sheis the one for him. This play and its plot may seem a little crazy and all over the place. But while it is crazy, and has a talking washing machine, I believe it falls into the category of Guerilla Theater. This play has an underlying moral that gives it a more political aspect that would make it relevant in society. The moral has to do with people becoming obsessively attached to technology. The repairman represents an over exaggerated version of a person who is obsessed with technology. This theme is also prominate in todays society. People cannot put thier phones down and are obsessed with their technology. Therefore, I believe this play comes of as Theater of the Absurd but is actually Guerilla theater.
